150% increase in ecoENERGY incentive for solar hot water

Incentives add up

Average system cost $7,000
Solar Neighbourhoods Incentive -$1,000
Federal EcoEnergy incentives -$1,250
Ontario Home Energy Retrofit Program -$1,250
Federal Home Renovation Tax Credit -$900
Final cost: $2,600
Financed at 0% over 10 years with Solar Neighbourhoods loan $25.83 per month

The federal government has announced a major increase in incentives for solar hot water systems through the ecoENERGY program. We fully expect that this increase will be matched by the provincial government in the next few weeks. The result is that the total ecoENERGYincentive will soon be $2,500 per residential system. This adds up to some pretty cool math for anyone thinking of installing a solar hot water system in Ward 30 (see example to the left).

Don't miss out — request an information kit on our website or call 416-392-6795 to see if solar could work for you. The Home Renovation Tax Credit will only be available until Feb. 1, 2010 and the Solar Neighbourhoods incentive will be available for only approximately 100 systems in Ward 30.

You can't beat zero

Did you know that the Solar Neighbourhoods program also offers a zero interest financing option? You can get up to 10 years to pay for your system at zero interest through our program. And you will still get an upfront incentive of $500. This makes for pretty easy monthly payments. Take a look at the chart above — for about $26 a month, you could install a solar system that cuts your hot water heating bill by 50% or more. Let's face it, most of us spend more than that on cable TV!

To qualify for financing and incentives, you must complete the ecoENERGY home assessment, which is also a great way to get a handle on your home's energy usage.
