Special Alert

Deal only with Solar Neighbourhoods approved contractors

We have received reports that some unscrupulous companies may be using the Solar Neighbourhoods name to try to sell their services. They are claiming that they need to inspect your current water heater on behalf of Solar Neighbourhoods. These individuals and companies are NOT part of the Solar Neighbourhoods program and you should NOT give them any access to your premises.

Solar Neighbourhoods EligibleOnly the companies listed on our official supplier page and our ecoEnergy partner, Windfall Ecology Centre, are authorized to conduct any home inspection or provide any services on our behalf. Furthermore, these contractors will only visit your home if you have pre-arranged an appointment — they will never show up for an unannounced inspection of your home or current water heater. If you have any doubts, please contact us immediately at 416-392-6795. Our staff are still available to respond to all of your information requests despite the current City labour disruption.

One of the major benefits of the Solar Neighbourhoods program is that we have pre-selected contractors with CANSIA training and pre-qualified the systems they are offering to ensure quality. By dealing with a Solar Neighbourhoods eligible installer, you know you are dealing with a reputable company and that the Solar Neighbourhoods program will be there to help you should you encounter any problems.

A number of our installers are already busy installing solar water systems in Ward 30 and may drop you a leaflet if they are in your area. But they will not ask to inspect your current hot water system without booking an appointment first.

Reminder - Finance your solar system and save

We highlighted this great zero-interest finance offer in our last newsletter but forgot to mention that it will only be available for approximately 100 systems. So if you'd like a chance to own a solar system for less than your spend on cable tv every month, get in touch with us right away.

The Solar Neighbourhoods finance offer is one sweet deal.  We will give you an up to 10 year loan for up to $10,000 with no interest and no fees and no hidden catches.  It’s just a straight-up great deal that could allow you to install a solar water heater for just $25-$50 a month.  When you subtract the savings on your gas bill that will result from using the free energy of the sun, you could actually end up being out of pocket just $6 to $27 per month (and remember: savings will increase if gas and electricity prices rise).  This special Solar Neighbourhoods loan makes solar hot water very affordable, and you still get a $500 up front discount on your system cost.  We’ve crunched the numbers for a few different loan scenarios – have a look at www.solarneighbourhoods.ca/loan.php
